The Point Four ION Monitor & Control System provides remote monitoring (with wireless option) and virtually unlimited control options and is designed for use with commercial Aquaculture applications.
The ION controller functions as a stand-alone display / operator interface unit. Its main function is to read and display information transmitted on the ION databus as well as provide control information to the ROC10 card. The main controller has two communication ports allowing it to transfer data from the main databus to a PC, a touch panel display, or through satellite communication. The SIC5 card (Signal Isolation Card) provides a means of galvanic isolation between smart sensors as well as providing a simple wiring interface for field sensors.
Features and Benefits
- Uses smart sensor technology – easily add and remove sensors from the system without reconfiguring
- Advanced technology made simple – remote configuration and real time monitoring anywhere via an internet browser
- Highly cost-effective – 'buy only what you need' investment model without the upgrade pains of "fixed" systems when you need to expand
- Customizable, easy to install and expand – up to 50 sensors can be controlled via one ION controller
- Worldwide sales and support – take advantage of our considerable engineering expertise and our after-sales support
- 1 year warranty – covering defective materials and workmanship
The SIC5 (Signal Isolation Card) provides a means of galvanic isolation between smart sensors as well as provide a simple wiring interface for field sensors. Galvanic isolation is necessary to prevent electrical paths forming between field sensors when placed in a conductive medium such as water. Without proper galvanic isolation “cross talk” or “ground loops” can occur. The SIC5 unit functions by passing the RS485 data signal through an optoisolator and the power supply through an isolated DCDC converter. Up to five sensors can be connected to one SIC5 card. The five signals are then multiplexed into one output connection which is transmitted on the main databus to the ION controller.
The ROC10 functions as a “smart” output device. It is used as a 10 channel switch to control devices such as solenoid valves, alarms, auto dialers, feeders, control pumps, lights, etc. Linking relays to the inputs can be performed via the main controller interface as well as via a PC. One ROC10 provides up to 10 relay outputs. Up to 5 ROC10 units can be linked to a single ION control unit, thus providing up to a total of 50 output combinations per controller unit.
